Orion Nebula

A mildly sharp pic of Orion's Nebula from last night, still trying to get a grasp on astrophotography. I'm learning how to use DeepSkyTracker right now and when I do I will run this through again and clean it up.

Sunset Beach

Looking up at the sky at about 2pm today it looked like a great day to day to shoot some stars later, nice and clear. I've been researching astrophotography and want to try some. by the time 2:05 rolled around, a thick blanket of clouds descended upon me. So, I still had the photo bug so I figured I'd go down to cape may and do some long exposures of the clouds rolling above the bunker or the concrete ship. It was so windy I took about 300 shots and only ~15 came out even mildly sharp. So here are the suvivors: South Jersey Gallery

lens Review!

Check out this review on the EF-S f/3.5-4.5 10-22mm. It is more an exercise in showing how changing the f/stop changes the sharpness of an image, but we'll call it a review anyway. Here it is: EF-S 10-22mm Review

Fall in NY and CT

Some cool shots from New York and Connecticut of the fall foliage, It's funny how I can get out to shoot in other states but I always end up being too busy to make it out to get it locally. Funny how that works. Heres the link- Fall in NY

Collateral Damage

Shot from the Delaware Bay tonight. In order to get this shot, I also accidentally sacrificed my remote shutter to the photography gods. I hope they are appeased.

4am Beauty

Pre-sunrise and post-sunset are some of my favorite times to shoot, mostly because of the light, color, and the infinite possibilities with long exposure. These shots are not HDR, they are Exposure Fusions in Photomatix. These were all taken between 4:00am and 6:42am at Stone Harbor Point, but if you are out that early watch for the tractor that combs the beach, you might get run over. Don't say I didn't warn you...

New Shots from Higbee's Beach (again)

So I like going to Higbee's to shoot. You should too. Between being one of the least populated beaches and having the sun set over the water, If you move into the dunes it is one of the wildest looking places in South Jersey. So here are a few shots from the shoot-

I also went with Chris and Matt peck, local photographers and good friends of mine. You can check out Chris's page at Christine Peck Photography, and I suggest you do.

Lunar Eclipses and End of the Year Sunsets

Here's a few new photos from the recent lunar eclipse and the sunset from Dec 31. The Delaware Bay had a good amount of ice floating around and made for some very interesting sights.
